I will send you a drawing from the Democratic Republic of Congo
A 6" x 9" drawing on colourful construction paper. The artist is a child participating in War Child's education programs in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. On the back of the paper is a message from the children.
There are few places in the world where it is as difficult to be a child as it is in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Breaking the cycle of violence can take decades. It requires a long-term investment in communities, in order to create the conditions that allow children to enjoy a happy and healthy childhood. It is War Child’s firm belief that a secure childhood is essential if children are to build a more peaceful and prosperous future. We have seen for ourselves that only with access to education, opportunity and justice will communities recover.
These drawings were given to War Child staff on a recent visit. As beautiful as they are and as much as we would like to keep them on display here in our office - we think they belong in the homes of War Child supporters that are helping to fund these urgently needed programs.
